Voluntary Nutrient Reduction Program

With warmer weather on its way, the grass is finally green and growing. This spring, check out the Voluntary Nutrient Reduction Program (VNRP) offered through the Durham Soil and Water Conservation District. VNRP encourages homeowners to follow fertilizer application Best Management Practices (BMPs) when applying fertilizer to their lawns or gardens. The first step is to have your soil tested to know what changes you may need to make. By improving fertilizer application practices, landowners are protecting the County’s water resources, improving North Carolina's water quality in NC and saving themselves money!

For more information or to sign up, please go to the Soil and Water Conservation District website, visit them on Facebook, or call 919-560-0558.
