Public Health Celebrates 100 Years

In the face of heavy rains, about 400 people turned out for the Department of Public Health's "After Hours" celebration on Friday, April 25. The evening event, which featured food trucks outside the Human Services Building and dancing inside, honored the department's 100-year anniversary of service to Durham. The department reached that milestone in 2013. Public Health retirees spoke about the history of the department, while current Director Gayle Harris shared her vision for the future. "After Hours" also served as a showcase of the broad array of Public Health services. Employees staffed booths in the hallways while visitors explored the offerings. Meanwhile, visitors won giveaways and got to meet Duke athletes. Check out Public Health on Twitter by following @DurhamHealthNC.
