Sheriff's Office Provides Prescription Drop Boxes
The Durham County Sheriff’s Office recently installed two drop boxes where people may anonymously dispose of unwanted over-the-counter or prescription medications. One box is located in the lobby of the Durham County Courthouse (510 S Dillard St.) and the other is located at the Sheriff’s Office’s North Station (11821 U.S. 501 North, Rougemont). Gang Reduction Update
The reduction and prevention of gang activity in Durham remains a high-priority policy item thanks to the efforts of the Gang Reduction Strategy Steering Committee (GRS-SC). Co-chaired by City and County Managers Tom Bonfield and Wendell Davis, the GRS-SC is comprised of policymakers and leaders from the City, the County, Durham Public Schools, the judicial system, law enforcement, local universities, nonprofits, and the faith community. County Wins "Culture of Health" Prize
Durham County recently took home $25,000 and the distinction of being one of six winners nationwide of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's "Culture of Health" prize. The award, given at the Aspen Ideas Festival, honors the County's innovative and intentional strategies to improve health outcomes.
