Prodigal Farm Preserved with Easement
Durham County closed on a voluntary conservation easement on the 91-acre Prodigal Farm in the Bahama area in December. Prodigal Farm is located in the watershed for Lake Michie -- a drinking water supply for most Durham residents -- and is owned by David Krabbe and Kathryn Spann. The farm operates a goat dairy and cheese-making facility and directly sells its cheese, cheesecakes, bread and goat meat at two local farmers markets and several restaurants.

The Veggie Van Grows
The Veggie Van is sprouting in more spots this year.
After having a site at the County Human Services Building for the last two years, the initiative is adding locations. The Veggie Van now also appears at the Main Library, Duke Family Medicine Center, and Walltown Park Recreation Center, with another site coming to Lincoln Community Health Center in the spring.
These locations allow for staff and community members to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables. Community Nutriti
