YouthWork to Host Job Fair

Do you know any Durham youths, age 16 to 21, looking for employment? If so, please encourage them to attend the Durham YouthWork Internship Program Job Fair to meet potential employers and submit their résumés. The fair is set for Tuesday, April 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Holton Career and Resource Center, at 401 N. Driver St. Applicants should wear business casual attire, bring a black pen and résumés, and come prepared for on-the-spot interviews with potential employers. Youth may also submit applications directly to the City’s Human Resources Department by visiting the department in person on the first floor of City Hall, at 101 City Hall Plaza, or by downloading an application here. Applicants should review the job listings and needed criteria to ensure eligibility for each position and submit one application per position. The deadline to apply is Thursday, April 17. As part of the YouthWork partnership, Durham County Library is offering a series of Job Readiness workshops for teens ages 13-19. The series includes programs on Job Applications, Social Media, Mini Mock Interviews, Résumés, Job Readiness, Job Hunting and Volunteering. In addition to the programs, teen librarians in each library will be available by appointment to work one-on-one with teens. The series kicked off on March 8 with an all-day workshop. Teens can visit durhamcountylibrary.org to find out more about the series.
