The Veggie Van Grows
The Veggie Van is sprouting in more spots this year. After having a site at the County Human Services Building for the last two years, the initiative is adding locations. The Veggie Van now also appears at the Main Library, Duke Family Medicine Center, and Walltown Park Recreation Center, with another site coming to Lincoln Community Health Center in the spring. These locations allow for staff and community members to pick up fresh fruits and vegetables. Community Nutrition Partnership runs the Veggie Van. “Empowering our residents to make healthy choices by increasing access to fresh fruits and vegetables is at the core of creating a healthier and more resilient community,” County Public Health Director Gayle Harris said in a news release. “Collaboration is the key to solving Durham’s public health problems.
