Durham Recognizes American Diabetes Month

The Durham Diabetes Coalition ran a full slate of engaging events in November to educate the community as part of American Diabetes Month. These events included a community health fair and a tour designed to provide suggestions on how to shop for healthy foods. One out of every eight Durham County residents has diabetes, according to a City Council resolution announcing American Diabetes Month. The Durham Diabetes Coalition, which receives private funding and is run out of the Durham County Department of Public Health, takes a proactive approach to battling diabetes with events and educational materials such as these.
