Public Health Offers Anti-Opioid Kits
The Durham County Department of Public Health is now offering kits with naloxone, a medication that is designed to counteract overdoses of drugs like heroin, Oxycontin and Hydrocodone. “In a drug overdose situation, it is always critical to call 911 first,” Dr. Arlene Seña, medical director for the Durham County Department of Public Health, said in a news release. “However, having a naloxone kit on hand for those type of emergencies will hopefully save lives. We are now offering these free kits and will be working with our community partners to expand access to naloxone for residents needing them in our community.” Read the full news release here.
