Public Health Steps Up to Walking Challenge with Orange County
A walking competition is afoot between Durham County Public Health employees and peers at the Orange County Health Department. The two departments are going head to head to see which one can first collectively hit the goal of walking the 2,168.1 miles that encompass the Appalachian Trail. Using pedometers, Fitbits and other tools, employees are tracking their progress. In the guidelines, 2,000 steps equal one mile of walking, according to a joint news release from both health departments. The victor receives a trophy and the winning health director will receive a gift basket from her counterpart. Updates will be posted on the Durham County Public Health Facebook page.
