Durham Diabetes Day

As many as 12 percent of Durham County residents are living with diabetes and some are unaware of their diagnoses. In an effort to educate residents about their risk for developing type 2 diabetes, the Durham Diabetes Coalition (DDC) has partnered with the local American Diabetes Association (ADA) chapter to offer several activities in observance of Diabetes Alert Day. On Saturday, March 22, the DDC and the ADA will host the Diabetes Health Fair at CAARE Inc. Attendees will have an opportunity to take the diabetes risk test, have a blood sugar screening, receive information about diabetes from local vendors and participate in games and activities. Diabetes Alert Day is March 25. DDC and ADA partner sites the Durham County Department of Public Health, CAARE Inc., Duke Outpatient Clinic and Lincoln Community Health Center will have diabetes risk tests available along with diabetes-related information and activities. For additional information, visit the DDC website.
